History of School

Desmond College, which operates under the auspices of Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board, formerly Co.Limerick VEC, opened in 2001. It had previously been called Newcastle West Vocational School.

Desmond College is a modern well-equipped school with ‘state-of-the-art’ facilities. We proudly continue a tradition of excellence in education dating back over seventy years in Newcastle West.

Desmond College offers the very best of educational facilities in a spacious, well designed and aesthetically impressive setting.
