the Senior Cycle Physical Education App Development Focus Group.

The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA) is leading this project with the aim of promoting students lifelong participation in physical activity. The NCCA are working in collaboration with Indigo who are leading the research and development of this App.

Desmond College sixth year students who have had previous experience with the Senior Cycle Curriculum models were key to this focus group.

The students downloaded several free sports and fitness apps that were already in the market and provided feedback during the focus group on different aspects of the app: What did they enjoy about the app? What would they change?

Students discussed how user-friendly each app was or if they needed any improvements. Desmond College students provided invaluable information that will be taken on board going forward with the development of the app.

It is exciting to see a lot of developments in Senior Cycle Physical Education. Senior Cycle Physical Education Framework (non-examination) has been approved by the Department of Education. Leaving Certificate Physical Education (for examination) has also been approved by the Department however implementation has not yet been made. Overall positive movement going forward.
